Mph to engine rpm is a function of the transmission ratios, not the engine specs. So do you want to build it? I am sure the machinist would know how to sharpen his bit. W/ keen toolbits and set up, it can be done like that nicely.is all. Shame that it shoud be done at all in this rich country of ours. Most cheap VW shops here in the USA use this rudimentary way to flycut used unge-cut. You can set the over-bore to say + 0.002' so you can clean up the corner edges.otherwise you will end up w/ a lip and the cylinder will not seal. Note though.that if you do not have flycutting ability, you can use a basic boring head and flycut w/ a slight over-bore and come down on the surface at 90 degree toolbit angle. So maybe it would be hard to say flycut, they locals myt not get it. I also use my Criterion on occassions.Įxcept its called 'counter bore' to them or local.

I will be having a machine shop do it for me but i just wanted to know so that i won't be ignorant of what they will be doing to my heads. i need to see some pics and some tips so i could explain to the machinist. Right now i'm in the philippines and the machine shop doesnt specializes vw's. Send them to some place that specializes in aircooled VWs. I guess my neighborhood machine shop got one. Guys i just wanna make most out of my stock 1500 engine, i want to raise the compression ratio a little bit.how do you flycut the cylinder heads? tips? pictures will be appreciated.thanks
